Abstract

This study examines the cultural hybridity between Vietnamese and Chinese communities as reflected in the prose works of Binh Nguyen Loc, drawing on theories of cultural interference and acculturation from Vietnam and the world. Analyzing the works of Binh Nguyen Loc, it is observed that the writer consistently portrays the process of cultural exchange between Vietnamese people and migrating, co-residing Chinese people, as well as the changes in cultural life. His narratives emphasize peaceful coexistence and mutual acceptance rather than conflict or cultural domination. This article aims to clarify the relationship between literature and culture, proving that the writer's cultural consciousness profoundly influences both the ideological content and the artistic value of literary works. The findings suggest that Binh Nguyen Loc’s oeuvre serves not merely as artistic expression but as valuable ethnographic documentation of multicultural Southern Vietnamese society, offering insights into how distinct ethnic communities maintained their cultural identities while forming a cohesive regional culture.
