Theistic existentialism was employed as the key to decoding the poem collection Pilgrimage by Le Dinh Bang, with the purpose of discovering the beauty of human life, and illuminates the contributions of his individual work and general Catholic poetry to the movement and development of the nation's literary life. With the historical-cultural method, the close reading method, especially the phenomenological description technique, the article approached the hidden depths of the human mood with the physical pain that always leaves us out of step with life and estranged from ourselves. The author’s lyrical ego looked at life and himself with “a profile look”, creating poems that seem to walk between the two shores of reality and fantasy.

Abstract

The image of women appeared commonly in supernatural tales of countries in the Han language culture area with many outstanding features. However, currently there are not many specific studies on this image in the truyen ky genre.  Based on the parallel comparison method, this article aims to research the image of women through two typical works: Truyen ky man luc (Nguyen Du) and Vu nguyet vat ngu (Ueda Akinari). The result showed that besides the similarities such as promoting beauty, sacrifice, filial piety, and fidelity, the women in each work also have their own unique characteristics of each nation. If the women in Truyen ky man luc boldly pursue love and happiness for themselves, the women in Vu nguyet vat ngu were fierce in demanding justice for them. They not only showed the general flow of the medieval legend genre in the Han language culture area but also created a unique mark of the image of women in each work.
