Abstract

Receiving and transforming are the development rules of literature. In order to get Doan truong tan thanh, during the composing, Nguyen Du had creatively received many literary heritages of the nation and humanity, including Kim Van Kieu Truyen (The Tale of Jin Yun Qiao). The receiving and transforming of Nguyen Du from Kim Van Kieu Truyen when he composed Doan truong tan thanh has the following key highlights: (1) removed some contents completely, (2) omitted it to shorten some events, (3) reversed some details, (4) lengthened and described some contents, (5) changed the idea and meaning of some events and actions completely. With these five ways combined with creating new content not yet available in Kim Van Kieu Truyen, Nguyen Du created an immortal work for national literature.

Abstract

Despite being the latest war that happened to the Vietnamese people, the Southwestern border war, during the late 1970s made a very light imprint on Vietnamese modern literature comparing to the two previous resistant wars against France and America. Perhaps because this war took place mostly outside the country and lasted just a few years - much shorter than the two other wars. Besides, we cannot exclude the social context of the late 1970s during which Vietnamese people, including writers and readers, were too busy adapting themselves to the newly formed peace and to worn out by idealistic war clichés to pay attention to literature about another war. However, this fleeting but devastating war still produced a poetic sound so prideful but sorrowful. From the comparative perspective, this article analyses poems by a few writers who participated in this war such as Phạm Sỹ Sáu, Lê Minh Quốc, Đoàn Tuấn and Anh Ngọc, exploiting their outer view of the enemies, the Cambodian country and people and their inner perspective of themselves, their comrades and the war they were taking part in. With the historical view and the poetic and comparative methods, this article comes to the conclusion that the soldiers of the Southwestern border war inherited the spiritual posture of their predecessors but had their own distinctive feelings about their own war.

Abstract

After a quarter century of writing, Nguyen Ngoc Tu showed that the constant sense of artistic innovation has been both bravery and identity, thereby enhancing Southern literature and affirming her important position in contemporary Vietnamese literature. This paper examines narrative art, focusing on the elements of plot structure and narrator in Canh dong bat tan and Bien su nuoc, and explains the artistic movement in her creative journey. The transformation from the unified and complete plot to the fragmented, multi-layered structure, from the only homodiegetic narrator to the diversification of the narrative “self”, from sympathetic, compassionate to objective voice, cold, ... shows a significant change in life perception in artistic conception and creative style of Nguyen Ngoc Tu.

Abstract | PDF (832.1K)

Abstract

Along with educational, aesthetic, entertainment functions, etc. cognitive function is one of the most important functions of children’s literature. By using interdisciplinary research methods, especially applying knowledge of age psychology, and theories of literary functions, we prove that the children’s literature of Nguyen Ngoc Thuan helps children approach the perception of nature, society, humanity, and self-perception. Such knowledge is not too much, but just an excuse for the character to filter his own feelings and foster awareness of the reasons to live, lifestyle, noble sentiments, and a living environment full of humanity. From there, they can form a correct and humanistic outlook on life.

Abstract

The study conducted a survey of 180 coffee production households in Cau Dat of Da Lat city to analyze the production status, situation, awareness of the risk and response measures to cope with it in coffee cultivation of households. Descriptive statistical methods and comparison methods are used mainly in analysis. The results of the study showed that the number of households reducing the area of coffee production in the period of 2017 - 2021 accounted for a relatively high proportion, especially for Xuan Tho and Xuan Truong communes. Production households are affected by many risk factors, of which the strong impact factor is the market but mainly on the selling price, with the low cost of coffee not guaranteeing household income. In addition, unsecured labor resources also affect the continued maintenance of coffee production in households. The study also assessed measures to respond to risks in coffee production of farmers in the area, in which the necessary solution for farmers is to join cooperatives to help them improve their knowledge of pest management and ensure product consumption.
