Abstract

This study was performed to evaluate the extension of shelf life of sample in decoration and orient development researches for fruit and vegetable carving career, gradually bringing the carving products to the market, contributing to diverse output for Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable products. The obtained results showed that the sample was certainly improved when it was covered by alginate membrane. The trimming root vegetable immersed in 0,75% alginate solution for 30 seconds at 30oC resulted in the highest quality of sensory, colour and weight loss.

Abstract

Buddhism is known as one of the major religions in the world. It has influenced people's life not only in the spiritual aspect but also strongly in the material one. Thailand, a country in mainland Southeast Asia, has adopted Buddhism (Theravada) and made it to be recognized as the state religion. Thai people especially respect the monk because they are Buddha's novices who are taking the mission of spreading the Dharma. In Thai culture, pagodas (or temples) and monks play an important role in society. Temples are normally the places where Thai people take their daily activities and monks are their spiritual leaders. Besides the rituals relating to human life cycle, temples are also the places where take place big and small festivals during the year. In addition, monks also play a significant role to support people in their life such as health care, education, social activities.

Abstract

Scientific research created numerous benefits not only to lecturers but also to graduate and undergraduate students. Besides the annual scientific research contests organized by Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, various workshops and conferences have also been organized in universities to create scientific playgrounds, encourage students improving their explorative and creative capacity, equip them with new sufficient knowledge and provide scientific products as well. However, along with lots of successful research, there are plenty of students who neglected to take part in scientific research or failed to complete their projects with various obstacles and difficulties. Identification and measurement of difficulties occurring in scientific research is the premise for prompt support to have more students involved positively into research activities, complete their research projects as well as to enhance quality of scientific products. This research was conducted through a survey of 309 economics students from five large universities in Ho Chi Minh City. The result found that four groups of barriers in students’ research process regarding to capacity of students, research advisors, and institutional support as well as academic facilities of universities. Despite the important role of research advisors, the research also found that the most crucial factors relating to the students’ subjective issues in participating scientific research.

Abstract

For the small-scale agricultural production, the linkage between producer and wholesaler plays a vital role in providing/delivering agricultural products to market. When participating in the linkage with wholesaler in producing vegetables, householder will easily get with the market through the information of wholesalers. A logit model with the MLE method was used to analyze factors affecting the sustainable ability of linkage between wholesalers and vegetable farmers. Data was collected by using questionnaire of in-person (face to face) interviewing with sample size of 222 farmers in Don Duong district, Lam Dong province, which is one of the largest vegetable production areas. The result shows that the probability of maintaining the linkage of vegetable farmers with wholesalers is 75,67% and factors impact this connection comprising household head age, farmer size, trust, satisfaction, gender, payment method, and contract. In particular, payment method and trust have the strongest impact on the probability to keep lasting connection in producing vegetables of farmers. To enhance the linkage efficiency between wholesalers and vegetable household in the area need to maintain the contract credibility and commitment in this relationship.

Therefore, he used folklore both as an artistic innovation and as a screen to express his wisely attitudes, thoughts, helping his works escape from harsh censorship. Each of his works were derived from the hometown mountains, imbued with nationality, and full of profound humanity, crystallined eternal truths.

Abstract

This article is based on the theory of family fiction combined with biographical criticism to explore Thomas Mann's work “Buddenbrooks Family” from a genre perspective. The “Buddenbrook Family” is Thomas Mann's debut novel and is considered as a model in the novel genre of family. Five generations of the Buddenbrook family endured numerous ups and downs from growth to loss. Intergenerational conflict, economic and mental deterionration of members in the family illustrated the importance of obligations and reponsibilities that each person must have for economic growth, improving the social standing of the whole family. Commitments and responsibilities of the clan compel them to give up their passion and personal pleasure in order to preserve and grow the family's future. Adopting the Buddenbrooks from the perspective of family novels, readers will have opportunity to learn more deeply about bourgeois multi-generational families in the nineteenth century in European society.

Abstract

This research is based on the theory of receiving literature combined with historical method to give explanations and comments about reception Anna Seghers in Northern of Vietnam in 1954-1975 period. She was an writer in exil who is considered to be the best and the most influential writer in German literature on anti-fascism in the twentieth century. Her works were translated into many languages in the world, including Vietnam. In special 1954 - 1975 period of Vietnamese history, this popular German writer was welcomed in the North only for a few years, mainly translated literature field. Anna Seghers expressed a struggling spirit and international friendship in her literature and political career. This expression was completely suitable to a struggling situation to protect the country at that time in the Northern of Vietnam.

From the perspective of ecological criticism, Vo Dieu Thanh’s writings clearly shows the writer's ecological thought with environmental problems and ecological risks. In the situation of climate change and its impacts on culture, society and history in the Southern of Vietnam, this is a topical and humanitarian article in Southern literature, especially in the early years of the 21st century. The author has condemned destructive acts of nature, warning about the power and rage of nature. Since then, the author has raised a voice of advocating for environmental reconstruction to atone for nature. All these contents are presented by a very unique ecological artistic style, bearing the own mark of a writer - teacher - a child of this land.

Abstract

Regarding to the formation and development of the national language prose in the Southern of Vietnam from the late 19th to the early 20th century, the great role of translation and national language press must be mentioned. Translation not only helped spread the national language widely to the readers, but also helped them enjoy some foreign literary masterpieces which had just heard before. Besides, translating also helped writers have more opportunities to improve their skills in using the national language, practice their writing skills as well as learn the writing techniques of developed countries. However, the translation works could not reach readers without the national language press. With the publication of many literary works, the national language press has become a fertile and nurturing land to train and challenge the skills of the writer at that time. Since then, the literature readers also originated from the press readers and modern Vietnamese literature also began to sprout from here.

Launched in 1918, Dai Viet magazine was the first Vietnamese magazine in An Giang province and the second in the Mekong Delta. However, due to its short existence of 7 issues, this magazine has been almost forgotten in Vietnamese journalism history for more than a century. Researching on Đại Việt magazine, we found that journalists at that time tried their best to contribute to the work of improving the people's knowledge. This research will help the readers have a more complete view and more correct assessment of Đại Việt magazine in the historical flow of national culture.

Abstract

With the mind of an artist bearing the aspiration to reform traditional Vietnamese poetry, Khe Iem has absorbed the spirit of blank verse American poetry to establish, construct and spread the new type of poetry: Vietnamese new formalism poetry. By analyzing and comparing methods, the article has pointed out the creations of the type of poetry from the poetic conception to the practice of composition, from the ideological content to the receiving readers. Abstract

Snake - one of the representatives of the natural world to human - is the original model image, tied to the source of life and imagination. Going through different spaces and times, snake has become sacred serpent - the Naga symbol with meanings and values which are constantly being enriched. In addition to bearing the noble symbolic meanings: the symbol of the water source and the original point; Naga symbol also has eternal values such as historical value, spiritual value, educational value, ... that accompany and reciprocate in human life. This connection has become the identity - the valuable cultural principal of the Khmer people in Southern of Vietnam. The Naga symbols have been "living" in the hearts of the Khmer people in Southern of Vietnam with customs, rituals and norms; with visual arts; with religion and rich and lively folklore.
