Abstract

In the modern world, the knowledge economy requires that university graduates possess a new set of skills. Their way of thinking should be more independent and flexible. They should be capable of life-long learning to acquire and assimilate new knowledge in a rapidly changing world. Hence the objectives of higher education should be changed from providing mainly knowledge and skills to training mainly abilities for self-learning to enhance self-acquisition of new knowledge. Therefore undergraduate programs should be changed and combined with broad comprehensive general education programs to produce most advanced intellectuals with the ability to response to the changing needs of the continuously changing environment
