Robinsonade trên màn ảnh Hàn Quốc: Trường hợp hai bộ phim Castaway on the moon và The larva island

Abstract

The term “Robinsonade” is a literary genre that refers to narrative works in European-American literature that tell about castaways on a desert island. Robinsonade structure not only appears in literary writings but also is used in cinema works called “filmic Robinsonade” by critics. As a result of globalization, Robinsonade structure has been experimented with South Korean screen. The thematology and intertextual methods were employed in this article to analyze the characteristics of the Robinsonade genre in two South Korean films: Castaway on the moon (2009) and The larva island (2020). Research results show that Robinsonade genre is exposed in these films through some important topics including being isolated on a desert island, the challenges of survival on that island, and the re-assimilation into civilized society.
