Abstract

The study was carried out from April 2018 to December 2019. The aim is to evaluate the ability to mass rearing of the diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella L.) on some artificial diets. The experiment was conducted in laboratory condition by the complete randomized design method (one factor). In the conditions of 30 ± 20C, 65 ± 5% RH, the diamondback moth was fed on two artifical diets: D1 (artificial diet of Guanghong et al., 1996), D2 (proposed) and leaf mustard greens. Being reared Plutella xylostella on D2 diet, the larval mortality was lowest (20.3 ± 6.6 %), while the pupation rate, pupal weight and the number of egg per female was 79.7 ± 6.6 %, 4.84 ± 0.17 mg, 148.1 ± 25.7 eggs, were highest, respectively. The experimental results showed that the diamondback moth fed on artificial diets did not affect the development stages and increasing its density.
Keywords: leaf mustard greens, mass rearing, Plutella xylostella, diamondback moth, artifical diet.
